Setting up for Pre and Post Trek/Trails
When setting up of a trail ride or a long trek here are a couple things you might want to consider before going out:
Pre Trail or Trek:
-Grooming the horse (include brushing and hoof picking)
-Making sure that the tack fits
-checking for and injury
-using fly spray (if needed)
-leg wraps (if needed)
-check all tack before putting on
-check for helmet fit
-check if people have on the correct shoes
-check if they have on the right clothing
-if anyone has health issues
-if everyone signed that wavier
-to make everyone feel comfortable around the horses
-explain the risk of riding
-go over how to ride and steer a horse
-help riders get on using mounting block
Post Trail or Trek
-Help people get of horse
-get helmets backs
-tie horse up so you can untack them
-groom horse (include brushing and hoof picking)
-check for injury and rubbing
-let horses get a drink
-untack horse
-bath horses (if necessary)
-clean and put all tack away properly
-take horse where they need to go
